Health Concern:
I have a yellowish discharge with a slight odor -
it started after my husband and I tried anal intercourse.
Question:
I have a yellowish discharge with a slight odor to it and the only other symptom I can think of is that sometimes I have a tingling itch that isn't bothersome, I have just noticed it. Recently, my husband had tried to have anal intercourse and I felt too much discomfort with it so we proceeded with regular vaginal sex. I noticed the discharge about a week after that. Would that be a cause and what should I do to treat it?
Response:
Yes, anal intercourse before vaginal can definitely lead to a bacterial infection in the vagina. The bacteria found in the anus are not the same ones normally found in the vagina.
It is a good idea to use a condom with anal intercourse and then change it before vaginal intercourse. Or the man can wash his penis.
The medical treatment is by prescription, so you would need to go to a clinic or doctor for a prescription.
