Health Question:
Have you heard of blood "stuck" in the uterus?
Question:
I think this is a wonderful site and I wish I had found it before obtaining an abortion in February. A week later I had to return to the clinic to have a repeat procedure (I was bleeding heavily) in order to remove blood that was "stuck" in my uterus. I have still not gotten my period and I am scared something went wrong. When is it normal to resume menstruation and have you ever heard of blood getting "stuck" in the uterus?
Response:
Your experience of the blood clot being "stuck" is not too rare. It is also not a serious complication. You were treated appropriately. Since your heavy bleeding stopped after the second procedure, things sound okay now.
It's normal to get your next period 4 to 8 weeks after the abortion.
