Health Question:
When does ovulation happen after an abortion?
Question:
I had an abortion two weeks ago and now I've got a question. I hope you can give me an answer. Will my ovulation occur normally during the first month, following the abortion? (I was only 3 weeks into pregnancy) Am I safe with birth control pills now?
Response:
In the first month after abortion, ovulation can occur at any time. Birth control is necessary if you do not wish to become pregnant. You should get your period 4-8 weeks after the abortion.
If you are using birth control pills, it is wise to use a back-up method (condoms, spermicides, abstinence) with the whole first cycle of pills. See aftercare information.
