Midwives and Doulas
Doulas de France an organziation working to help connect mothers to Doulas in France
Citizens for Midwifery is a non-profit, volunteer, grassroots organization. The goal of Citizens for Midwifery is to see that the Midwives Model of Care is available to all childbearing women and universally recognized as the best kind of care for pregnancy and birth.
Reclaiming Midwives - This site displays stills from the set of "All My Babies" (1952) in Albany, Georgia, and strives to capture and preserve the "deep humanity inherent in midwifery and home birth."
Safe Motherhood - Twenty years ago the Safe Motherhood Initiative was launched by World Health Organization and others to reduce the severe global burden of pregnancy-related illness and death. Over 300 million women in the developing world suffer from illness brought about by pregnancy and childbirth; nearly 53600 die each year. Among the interventions that have a significant effect on maternal mortality is access to safe abortion. Across the globe, women need better access to contraception and safe legal abortion -- to save lives.
Seattle Midwifery School trains midwives, doulas, lactation consultants, and childbirth educators.
